Fall Style: Week 1

So, early fall in Oklahoma is tricky. One day it could be 40 degrees with winds blowing 50 mph and the next day it could be beautiful, and 78 degrees......you literally NEVER know! With that said, it's important to have transition pieces. I like things that I can mix with other seasons too. This week I wore these two outfits that I'm about to show you. Since I'm a teacher, I have to be what I call, the 3 C's--comfortable, covered, and convertible. By comfortable I mean I can't be fussing with my clothing all day. Ain't nobody got time for that! I work with middle-schoolers so I have to be completely covered and not worried if I'm showing too much. Modesty is a must in a profession where you are dealing with pre-teens and teenagers!  And then, by convertible, I simply mean layered. I am always freezing to death so layers are a must for me. Here are the two outfits that have served well as transition outfits during this week's roller-coaster fall weather.
In this outfit, I was incredibly comfortable! I found this cute blush sweater at Ross for a heck-of-a bargain of course! (You'll notice that most of the things that I buy are bargains.) The floral under shirt is actually a 3/4 sleeved shirt that I have for sale in my boutique, A Treasured Boutique. Go check it out! These ponte pants are actually from Wal-Mart! Can you believe it?!?! I absolutely love this unexpected item in my closet. I wish I could find them in all sorts of colors and textures because they are awesome. I bet I've washed them a hundred times and they still look great. You may be able to find them in the store, but sadly, right now they are out-of-stock online. They also go all the way up to XX-Large. My boots I found online at Dillard's fabulous New Year's Day sale a year or so ago. They are Naughty Monkey brand. I found these same boots I'm wearing on Amazon, but they're not exactly the same color.
Comfy, covered, and in the rare case that I would have gotten hot, I had the option of shedding a layer. 😊

This next outfit is near and dear to my heart because it's basic. LOL! I'm most comfortable in earthy tones and basic. I like this outfit because this is a striped summer dress and it easily transitions to fall by adding a sweater or jacket with it. I also found this sweater at Ross for a steal. I paired it with a pair of booties that I found at Dillard's last season. Although they no longer have these particular boots, these are super cute and very similar.
How do you transition from summer to fall? Have you tried to mix in some of your existing items with your new bargains?
