Christmas Home Tour-Part 1
Hey y'all! I have to apologize for the delayed reveal of Part 1 of my Christmas Home Tour, but I'm full of excuses! Things like my job, two little boys, cooking, cleaning (this mess in the living room floor where the Tiny Terrorist is screaming at me for picking up his toys and putting them in his basket #reallifefolks),
drinking coffee to stay alive, chasing a Tiny Terrorist out of the Christmas explosion... I have just been busy and time has slipped away from me. Despite the delay, I have so enjoyed getting ready for Christmas this year. Picky Eater is so excited every day to find Charlie, our friendly elf, and to see what little treat is in the advent calendar that I made. The Tiny Terrorist is so cute and loves all of the Christmas lights. Even though he has been a handful to keep out of all things Christmas, his joy and excitement about it are contagious. So, without any more hesitation, I am going to show you my dining room, entryway, and living area today. So, come on in! Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the pics! I hope you get some inspiration for your own home.
This year, I was going for a rustic luxe look with my Christmas decor. If you are wondering what the heck that is, it is rustic mixed with glam. So, to start this whole process I moved all of my rugs around (My husband was SUPER excited about thisπ). However, despite his excitement, I really like how it changed things up. I moved this leopard rug from my kitchen nook to the entryway. Don't be afraid to move things around in your house for a new look. I know how this can change things up, but I have been completely surprised at how different just moving the rug here changed the look of this area of my home. Despite how dreary it looked outside when I took these pictures, the weather was absolutely beautiful outside. Not like December, but more like September. We were so blessed to have such a beautiful weekend!
I love these cute red and white sweater pillows with pompoms on the corners! π I found them last year at Marshal's. They look really cute mixed with the faux fur white pillows that my mother-in-law gave me (Jackpot!). The oblong red and black buffalo check trimmed in faux fur pillow was a TJ Maxx find last year as well. Whoever decided to mix red and black buffalo check with fur was a dang decorating/fashion genius! And whoever it was, I could just squeeze 'em! All of these pillows on my $10 teak garage sale bench look pretty great if I do say so myself. π I really love my gallery wall but it's been this way for a very long time and I think it needs a refresh...π What do you think???
I love decorating my buffet for Christmas. It is a good place to showcase some of my favorite decorations. Christmas decorating wouldn't be complete without the dancing and singing Santa Clause. He is Picky Eater's favorite. I repainted some old candlesticks white and put those cute birch candles on them and added a black lantern.
This is the 9 foot tree from Home Depot that I was telling you about. It turned out really pretty, but I poked a bunch of Christmas crap, I mean festive things, into it so you can't tell that it isn't as full as I would have liked for it to have been. I also added extra lights because I didn't think it was twinkly enough. Is twinkly a word? π To go along with the rustic luxe theme I wrapped gifts in red and black buffalo check and craft paper. I found the cutest tags in the Target dollar bin! I topped the gifts off with a mixture of silver, gold, white, and red bows. I always buy my bows at Hobby Lobby or Dollar General because you can get them so reasonably priced. By the time Christmas gets here I'll be lucky if The Tiny Terrorist hasn't pulled all the bows off of every gift.
I got these cute, collapsible tinsel trees out again this year. I love the sparkle against the rustic rock on our fireplace. I mixed in some silver deer candle sticks, white fur trees, white and silver wooden trees, and a mercury glass tree. All of the different heights and textures really add alot of interest, I think. And Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without our cute Pottery Barn stockings hung on the mantle by my silver stocking holders. Rudolf and his sleigh look cute displayed on the hearth.
working, working, working, getting ready for an upcoming show (this is THE BEST show in Oklahoma and they feature so many Made In Oklahoma things that are PERFECT for the gift giving season. Stop by and say, "hello" if you plan on coming!),

The bucket that I stuck this little tree in was a $5 garage sale find from years ago. It usually gets a fresh look with every changing season. My husband cut up some of his deer antlers for me. He was a little apprehensive at first to share these prizes with me, but he reluctantly and sweetly obliged and I couldn't be happier at how this little tree turned out! I tied each antler on with either gold glitter or black and white striped bows. To finish it off I tied a gold bow to the top of the tree.
This little pencil tree beside the door is a new addition this year. My black tinsel tree from Hobby Lobby tuckered out on me.πIn its defense, I have had it a really long time and it was a great tree. I found this little beauty at Wal-Mart and I coudn't be happier with it. It is pre-lit, 7 ft tall, and the branches are really full. I used the same gold, black, and leopard ornaments on it, but I added the red and black plaid ribbon that I just tied into bows.
I am pleased with how festive the dining room looks this year! I ordered both of these trees and the 9 foot tree in my living room from Home Depot last year after Christmas so I got a heck-of-a-deal, BUT I am honestly NOT that pleased with the quality of them. They look fine, but I think that the one in front of the window could use more lights and it is not as full as I'd like. I do like the 9 foot pencil tree in the corner. It is the perfect size for an empty corner. I didn't put ornaments on it, I just put some of those messy icicles on it for some pizzazz and wrapped the bottom in a piece of leopard print cloth. I will go into more detail on the table decorations later.
I love my Christmas dishes. I found the gold and silver tree and deer dessert plates at Wal-Mart on sale after Christmas one year. I think I paid .50 cents each for them. I paired them with my Greek-Key china and they really go together like peas and carrots! Some of my other Christmas dishes add that extra pop of color along with my green depression glasses that were my Great-Grandmother's. I also threw in some plastic red chargers and they really make the white and gold dishes stand out.
This is one of my favorite chalkboards. It is a frame that I bought at a flea market for next to nothing and then painted the glass in chalkboard paint. It is easily changed up for the seasons.

I love displaying this manger scene every year. It is the reason for the season after all! You'll have to excuse my attempt at chalkboard design... I have been practicing, but it's still not perfect... sigh. I put a metallic red cloth under the manger. I think it makes everything pop out. I also put a garland that I made several years ago behind it and I think that it looks really pretty all lit up.
I hope that you have enjoyed Part 1 of my rustic luxe Christmas Home Tour! I hope that maybe you saw something that you like and got an idea or two. If you did, feel free to comment and/or share on Pinterest. Stop back by later to see Part 2. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
XOXO,
Danielle
